The Temple of Education

We have now had three days at Adani Vidya Mandir which translates to “Adani Temple of Education”. Great name for a school hey?

It is an amazing school. The Adani Foundation puts a lot of money back into the local community. This school is just one of the many projects they are involved in. Underprivileged children are provided an excellent education at no cost to their family. The school has been designed by an architect who is one of India’s best, and the whole set up reflects this. Classrooms have no air-conditioning but instead are cooled by the structure itself and huge sliding doors which can open up to let breezes in. There are covered walkways or breezeways all around the school and also waterways which are designed to help keep the place cool as well.

Classes have as many as 40 children in them all sitting in straight rows. Very well behaved children as it is an absolute privilege to be selected to have an education here. Ian and I have both been working with the classes. Me with creative writing and Ian with geography. Mia has been hard at work on her school assignments.

Photos show a Bullying Mindmap, a very proud boy and his peacock drawing and the beautiful open Art room.

  1. Hello everyone,
Am enjoying following everything you have been doing and showing my kids some of the photos. They don’t hang around long enough to seee them all. Last day of freedom from school for me today as it’s back to the grind on Monday.
Thinking of you in your travels.
    Stay safe and well, Lynnie.

  2. Hi Lyn, great to hear from you. Today was our last day at the Adani School and tomorrow we are being picked up at 5:00am to catch a train to Gandhigap and then an hour by car to Mundra where we will be at the school there for 5 days. Holidays over already!! Bad luck.
