Ciao Italia!

Got up early this morning and caught a vaporetto down the Grand Canal to the San Marco Produce Market. Saw some very interesting foods and fish.

Then a walk to the square to visit San Marco Basilica. Had to put my bag in storage and then we lined up with the hoards, for about 30 min, before they opened up. Truly amazing. Well worth the wait. Really richly adorned on every possible surface with frescoes, murals and amazing mosaics on the floor.

After that it was in to the Henri Rousseau Exhibition. Not being an art critic or expert, I actually thought his paintings were pretty ordinary. Sorry to all of you art critics out there!!

We then walked around to Arsenale to have one last Venetian coffee before catching te train to Rome.

A very smooth and fast four hour trip the Eternal City, where we walked about 20 minutes to our Shiva BNB. Very Indian and funky in the middle of Rome.

So look for yourself!

This is why the Venetians don't want cruise liners. Look at the size of it! Imagine the wash undermining the foundations of Venice.
