Now That’s What I Call a Crowd!

Last night when we popped up from Farrer Park MRT (train station)  we were met by masses and masses of Indian and Bangladeshi men. Couldn’t work out why it was all men until we were told that they were Bangladeshi construction workers who work a long way out and are brought in by bus every Sunday night to meet up with each other, have a chat and also send money home to their families.

There were tens of thousands of the men crowding the footpaths, the side roads and every spare piece of land.

The sound of their babble filled the air and we could still hear it five storeys up in our apartment.

One can only imagine the life they lead, and how important it is for them to send money home to help their families…wives, children, parents etc

Just a hint of some of the thousands of men
