The visit to Jackie French’s garden was inspirational. I am going to plant a tamarillo as a result of tasting one freshly picked from the tree. It was a cross because the taste of passionfruit, fejoa and kiwi fruit if you can imagine that. Apparently they fruit quite quickly…you don’t have to wait 7 years like you do for olives.
We were encouraged by Jackie to wander freely around and help ourselves to any fruit which was ready to eat. Some trees were dripping with avocados. So guess what…I am going to plant one of them as well.
It was just fantastic to see the place where all of the happenings for Jackie’s wombat stories have occurred.

It was an absolute privilege to spend time with Jackie and experience her warm heartedness and generosity in opening up her home and garden to us.
She is an inspiration and a worthy Australian Children’s Laureate 2014-2016.
