At the temple he took off his shoes and lit the candle. He could feel the breath of silence, he was able to smell the perfume of the flowers. Luk had his eyes closed and cleared his mind on one thing… Mali the elephant. The temple bells were ringing calmly and loudly.
The candle smelt like Mali. Tears formed in Luk’s eye. He stared at the candle imagining Mali in it. He started to cry and then a Buddhist monk with orange clothing came in. The monk sat with him and asked if he wanted to go back home. Luk said, “No,” then whimpered, “M-M-Mali you must live.”
