On Monday I fly to Sydney for the “Glittering, gala…” NSW Premier’s Literature Awards…Dresscode: Cocktail, where Tea and Sugar Christmas is on the shortlist for the Patricia Wrightson Children’s Literature Award.
Staying in an el cheapo hotel that night before catching the 7:00am train to Canberra. Being picked up by brother Paul, and will have two nights in Canberra. While there I am meeting up with NLA Publisher Susan Hall. Also meeting Paul’s new mouse friend…Phil…the rescued field mouse!
On Thursday, back by train to Sydney for the CBCA Conference which begins that night with a Welcome Reception at the Customs House, Guest Speaker being Professor Robyn Ewing who will talk about Literature and Drama: Play, Imagination and Possibilities.
Staying at the Menzies Hotel, which is where the Conference is being held, and the Conference Dinner is on Friday night, with guest speaker James Valentine.
Saturday night is free so will probably have a BOOZY WILD night out in Sydney!!!
Looking forward to seeing and hearing Jeannie Baker, Trace Balla, Steven Herrick and many others, and also catching up with authors and illustrators from all over Oz, as well as Ann James and Jess Haddon from Books Illustrated.
Flying home on Sunday afternoon. Whew!
