In India the monsoon rains have come early and torrential rain has dumped almost three times as much water as usual onto northern India.
In The Advertiser on 20/6/13 there was a photo of a statue of Lord Shiva in the Ganga, at Rishikesh, almost completely submerged under the flood waters.
To get an idea of how much water is racing down the Ganga I have a photo of the same statue taken when we were in Rishikesh in 2011.
