Kampot Readers and Writers Festival Opening Night or What a Blast at Chinese House!

Went to the glorious Chinese House on the riverfront last night for the opening of the KRWF and what a night it was.

Julien Poulsen got the night going and then there were speeches and music to follow…an eclectic mix which was a lot of fun.

I had my first Margharita for a few years and I gotta say it went down well and had the desired effect.

Chinese House is a must if you are ever in Phnom Penh. It is an old warehouse previously owned by a Chinese family for many generations and was recently bought and renovated by a guy, whose name I forget ( blame that Margharita) from South Africa.

Photos give a very brief glimpse of the night.

A grand entrance

Just to prove I was there! Love the curly fringe as a result of the humidity.

Magnus Magnusson, Julien Poulsen and a Cambodian writer , whose name I forget but will find out, who was the last surviving member of his family after the Khmer Rouge killings of intellectuals etc etc

Jung Chang author of Wild Swans relating how she became a writer

And now for a book reading accompanied by some light music.
